ACC
Services
ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation) is a crown entity personal injury support scheme, covering all New Zealanders. It provides entitlements following incapacity or disability for the cost of medical treatment, rehabilitation and weekly compensation subject to legislative rules. Eligibility arises after an accident, work related illness, treatment injury or sensitive claim event (sexual crime against a victim). ACC generally covers only these above accidental events.
ACC is a funder of entitlements and contracted services, not a direct provider, except for case management services for clients with injury-related lost-time from work, or high support needs arising from accident.

Age Concern
Services
Age Concern Taranaki is the lead organisation in Taranaki that connects, supports, empowers, celebrates and respects all older people in an inclusive community. Our services are specifically for those 65 years and older.
- Age Concern have two dedicated Community Workers in North and South Taranaki that run social programmes to connect older people to their communities while promoting social connections. These programmes include aqua walking, ‘drop in cafes’ and falls prevention classes.
- Shopping Service Coordinator to match police vetted volunteers in the community with older people who struggle to do their own grocery shopping. These volunteers take the older person shopping and assist them with the unpacking once they return to their homes.
- Accredited Visiting Coordinator to match police vetted volunteers with people aged 65 and over who may be feeling lonely in their homes and would like some company. These volunteers visit the older person weekly and are carefully matched depending on their interests etc.
- Registered Social Workers will respond to any allegations of Elder Abuse within the Taranaki area. The social worker engages with the older community, completes relevant referrals and safety plans while case holding clients to ensure their safety and well-being. This may include assisting them with things such as lawyer’s appointments and empowering them to report abuse to local Police.
- Age Concern provide ‘Ezee Meals’. Anyone (regardless of age) can phone and order a variety of frozen meals. These can be picked up from the Age Concern office or delivered on a Friday morning (within the New Plymouth area) with a $5.00 delivery fee.

Tūtaki Youth Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation, providing a facility with cultural, education, physical, health and leadership opportunities for young people. This multi-purpose youth facility includes office space for rent, board and meeting rooms, IT suite, health room, large commercial-style kitchen, recreation area, and the Lions Den gym.

Youth Work
Youth work is integral to Tūtaki Youth Inc.’s service delivery. Young people aged 12-24 years have access to a youth worker who provides support and assistance through identifying career pathways, education support, mental and physical health, life skills, advocacy and family assistance.
Social Work
Their social worker provides social work services to young people and family/whānau who seek help to improve their wellbeing. This includes health, mental health support, education, employment, alcohol and drug, referrals to external agencies, needs assessments leading to care management plans, parenting, self-esteem and anger management, advocacy and re-integration into the community.
Anti-Bullying
An Anti-Bullying programme at primary school level which aims to reduce the effects of bullying and create positive social change to improve behaviours in our young people and future leaders.
Domestic Violence Response
Their Prevention Initiatives Coordinator responds to every domestic violence incident that is attended by Stratford Police to provide advice, information about services available to them and/or ongoing support. This could include protection orders, parenting orders, relocation assistance and individual care management plans. As well as Police attended incidents, support is also provided to those who seek it in unreported domestic violence situations.
Police Projects
Tūtaki Youth Inc. works in partnership with Police Youth Development to run projects that prevent and reduce youth offending. One of these projects was the Lions Den which has since modified into the Lions Den Gym & Fitness Centre where a range of memberships and classes are offered to the community.
More information about memberships and classes are available at Tūtaki Youth Inc. or through www.lionsdengym.co.nz. Every dollar generated from the Lions Den Gym & Fitness Centre is put back into the organisation to continue providing services for the community.
Programmes
Tūtaki Youth Inc. provide programmes, both in individual and group settings. Programmes are developed based on need identified through trends and issues highlighted through client work and community feedback. Current programmes include:
Self-Esteem
A programme that gives participants tools to improve their self-esteem by learning about themselves; their strengths and likes, foundations for healthy self-esteem, building happiness, and communication.
Taming Anger
A programme that helps participants to recognise their anger and its causes, how it affects others and strategies to deal with anger.
Healthy Relationships.
A programme that gives participants the tools to recognise what a healthy relationship looks like in a family, friendship and school environment.
DV (Domestic Violence).
A programme designed to give participants the tools to assist in understanding what domestic violence is, how to live a DV free life, putting supports in place and developing safety plans.
Referral Process
All referrals made to Tūtaki Youth Inc. follow the same process. Referrals are received at weekly multi-disciplinary Case Management meetings. An initial assessment is undertaken to ensure that the client meets our criteria and that we are the best agency to meet the needs of the client. The case is reviewed and a decision is made whether to accept or decline. A letter is then sent to the referrer with the decision from the Case Management meeting.

Taranaki Restorative Justice Trust
Services
Taranaki Restorative Justice Trust receive referrals from the Court after an offender has plead guilty to a charge for which there is an identifiable victim. The Facilitator meets with both victim and offender separately to assess if the case is suitable for restorative justice. Both Victim and Offender are offered an opportunity to meet and talk face to face about the harm caused, ways to put right harm and positive ways to move forward into the future.

- Women’s Refuge support women and their children who have or are experiencing domestic violence.
- When a women’s safety is at risk Women’s Refuge provide crisis intervention and/or short-term accommodation in their Safehouse.
- Registered Social Workers develop safety plans, support women to appointments such as lawyers, Work and Income and refer them to counselling when appropriate.
- Supporting women through change processes to enable healthy relationships into the future is another area of our expertise.
- ASPIRE Men’s Project (AMP) AMP is aimed at helping men who are involved in Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). IPV includes physical and verbal abusive behaviour. This one-on-one programme supports men to change this behaviour and be able to improve their communication skills to support safer and happier relationships. This free service is provided by a qualified male social worker.

Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children is dedicated to supporting any child in New Zealand whose wellbeing is at significant risk of harm now, or in the future.
Their belief is that in the right environment, with the right people surrounding and nurturing them, any child can, and should flourish.
Oranga Tamariki are moving from a system focused on crisis response to one focused on prevention and early intervention, with fewer children moving through the system and into care. They focus on the underlying factors that make families and children more vulnerable, and aim to strengthen families and whānau to provide children with the best possible chance to experience a loving and stable home.
Their aim is to keep children safe in their own homes and develop interventions that work intensively with families and whānau to enable this to happen.
When it’s not possible for children to remain safely at home, Oranga Tamariki endeavour to find stable homes and loving care for children and young people, firstly within their own families and whānau, but if that’s not possible, with a care giving family that best matches their needs.
They’re also helping children and young people who have offended accept responsibility for their actions and support them so they don’t re-offend, also helping children who are likely to offend, so they don’t go down this path.

Court Services for Victims is a free, confidential and specialist service provided by Victim Advisers, to help you take part in the court process. It is available from the defendants first day in court, until sentencing and through any appeal. We can:
- Assist victims in participating in the criminal justice system.
- Advise you of your rights under the Victim’s Rights Act 2002.
- Provide information to victims about the Court case they are involved with.
- Facilitate the safety and protection of victims in Court.
- Assist Courts in dealing with victims.
- Help victims to let the Court know their views on the case in which they are a victim.
- Provide specialist sexual violence advisors.
The service strongly focuses on providing victims with accurate and timely information to assist victims during the Court process. Victim Advisers also take victims around the Court for familiarisation visits and arrange safe arrival and departure from the Court. It is also the responsibility of the Victim Adviser to help victims to identify who else they should link with and facilitate relationships between the victim and those people/agencies.
All victims of crime who are involved in a case before the Courts are offered the services of a Victim Adviser that is free and confidential. Victim Advisers can improve a victim’s experience of the criminal justice system by providing support and advice to victims at Court and ensure that victims are offered all the relevant information, advice and support under the Victims’ Rights Act 2002.

If you are living in or leaving a violent relationship you can talk to Work and Income about how they can help you. This could include:
- Financial help to get back on your feet – including benefit payments, help with accommodation costs, special needs grants and other types of financial support.
- Assistance with housing options in your area and, if appropriate, an assessment for social housing.
- Referrals to other support services and agencies.
- Work and Income will support you to build a better future for you and your family by helping you prepare or look for suitable work. They take into account your particular circumstances and what’s appropriate for you.
Work and Income case managers have been trained to identify and respond appropriately to people who are living in or leaving violent family situations. Talk to them about your situation. The more they understand what is happening for you, the better they can help you. The staff want to help you make a better future for yourself and your family.
They also work closely with other government and community agencies so they can refer clients for the help and support that they need. It also means those agencies know how Work and Income can help people they’re working with.
Work and Income is part of the Ministry of Social Development which also leads the ‘It’s not OK’ campaign against family violence. They conduct assessments for people wanting social housing, fund many community agencies, assist clients to obtain sustainable work and are committed to helping New Zealanders to help themselves to be safe, strong and independent.

Each week Department of Corrections manage around 10,000 people in prisons and 30,000 offenders in our communities. Our 8,000 staff are committed to supporting offenders to help them address their offending and gain skills that will help them lead a crime-free life.
Corrections protects the public of New Zealand from those who can harm them, by:
- Making sure prisoners, parolees and other offenders in the community comply with the sentences and orders imposed by the Courts and Parole Board.
- Providing offenders with rehabilitation programmes, education and job training that will turn their lives around and break the cycle of re-offending.
Department of Corrections collaborate with a number of organisations nationally and locally to make a positive difference in the lives of the people they manage.

Family Court
Family Court Coordinator Services
The Family Court Coordinator undertakes Judge directed referrals on active files such as appointing Lawyer for Child, Supervised Contact, Communication Counselling, Psychologist/Specialist reports and Oranga Tamariki reports.
The Family Court Coordinator also:
Liaises with stakeholders and providers including processing applications, complaints and reviews, and
is a Committee member of the local Family Courts Association which co-ordinates information events for Family Court groups.
Dedicated Counter Staff and Family Court Team can provide information about family issues and other help related to the following issues:
- Separation and divorce (dissolution)
- Care of children
- Domestic violence
- About Family Court
- Relationship property
- Change sex on your birth certificate
- Powers to make decisions for others (PPPR)
- Court ordered treatment
- Information for lawyer and service providers

Open Home Foundation of NZ
Services
The Open Home Foundation of NZ provides social work support for families with children between 0 and 17 years, who come under stress for all sorts of reasons. It may be on account of relationship breakdown, parenting or behavioural problems, poverty, alcohol and drug addiction, or abuse and mental illness.
